Re: New guy with truck

If you do some digging around here on this forum you will be able to find a few how too's on the front subframe. There are allot of choices. If it where me and I were to do it over again I would contact Porterbuilt customs and get a crossmember for a C-4 corvette. They handle great and come with big brakes and look really cool. The A arms and other components can be polished out and are really pretty inexpensive by the time you buy tubular A arms and fancy disk brakes, and sway bars etc. good luck Scott

Hey thanks for your advice Iprintgrt, yes been digging my sub was ok just to high and I didn't want to use drop spindle. Wish I could use c_4 corvette stuff, but I am on a budget so I have to work with what I can aford, the life of a pour man, lol.

Re: New guy with truck

When I got my truck the sub was on wrong and it sat like a 4wd. If you get the angle of the sub, measured at the a arms at the correct angle it should put you pretty low. Then you could use air bags to lower it more. The lower ball joint needs to be leading the top one I believe. When I did mine, I happened to own a camaro, so I just used a magnetic degree wheel and measured the angle from my camaro, then when I welded my sub on I made sure it was the same. My truck sits pretty low. Just what I did. S

Re: New guy with truck

Can't remember for sure, but I think they were like $65 a piece? I got them off Ebay. You can also check Suicide Doors. Not sure if I told you already but I have a 96 Caprice w/Lt1 that I'm going to use for my build like yours, so I'm curious about how you get yours running. Harness and stuff. S

Re: New guy with truck

What kind of load can your rear suspension handle? Im only asking because those coilovers look like helper shocks I've seen on pick up trucks(not load bearing) and the air schocks aren't load bearing either. Maybe I'm wrong, just wondering what it is.

hi hotrod, well the suspension handle the load of the Buick roadmaster? that's a big car, and it was a nice smooth ride..

Re: New guy with truck

Wow, what made you go with a different frame and start over? Mysubframe is a little different. Its from a 71 camaro. It looks like you have been doing alot of work on this. If nothing else you have learned alot. If the measurements and angle of the a arms are good then as long as the welds are good, it should be fine. Box it to make it look pretty and add strength, and it should be fine. Hope it sits how you want. S
