Info on center console

I was at a swap meet this weekend and ran across a center console. The gentleman stated it was from a 72 pickup. The question I have is the cup holders are square. Does it sound right or is it a later model like for a mid eighties suburban.

Nope... he is right. Before 73, the holes were square, thats to hold the buckles of your seat belts.

Re: Info on center console

Thanks for the info Tom. I saw a console with the square holes that fit seat belts. This console holes were pretty big that you could fir a coffee cup.

Re: Info on center console

The consoles had the square seatbelt holder slots up through at least 73. Thinking it was changed 75 IIRC. As far as being an insert, it was integrated with the upper half of the console.

Re: Info on center console

Thanks for the pic SS Tim. The one I saw had large square cup holders and a long horizonital slot. I think it could be from a suburban. When I opened the console it had a number on the inside of the lid 14028601. I should have bought it for 35 dollars. Oh well.

Thanks Bigdav160. That is exactly what I saw. I will try to go back and see if it still for sale. What I saw is black and in pretty good shape. It might look good in my 72 C-20
