Body mount shims?
I bought a body mount kit for my short bed and they came with square (shims)? Is tha exactly what they are is shims? I didn't take any off mine when I disassembled it. I just assume that I use them in case I need to square everything up. Is that correct.

Re: Body mount shims?
They look like the ones that are used under the bolt heads of the core support mounts. They go down inside the well on top of the core support, then you drop the bolt through them. It spreads the load from the bolt to keep from crushing the sheetmetal core support.

Re: Body mount shims?
Not sure as there are four of them and they come in the set for the cab. The cab, bed, and core support hardware all came in their own boxes. Sorry I should have been a bit more specific. I had cab mount in my head and didn't say that.

Re: Body mount shims?
Looking again at your picture, if that's a cab emblem for size reference, those are some big shims and definitely not the core support washers. They'd be like half that size.
I'll step back and see what others offer up so maybe I can learn something here.

Re: Body mount shims?
I just put the cab mounts on the other day and left these off. I am going to wait until I get the bed liner sprayed in and fenders put on before I tighten the cab mounts all the way down and then I guess I will see if they are needed. That way I can see how all the body lines match up. Anybody have a pic of their untouched cab mounts to see if they are in there.

Re: Body mount shims?
When you put the cab, front clip, and bed on the frame with new bushings you can use these shims on top of the bushings or for the bed on top of the frame to line up the body. Its just an option if you need it. Ive had to do it on a truck before to match up the body lines. If you bed lines up fine you dont need them.

Re: Body mount shims?
The truck I got a few donor cups from had them between the driver side front cab mount and floor. My blazer had a bottom washer between the cab and upper mount as a shim. Not sure why, it seems to line up without it. Anyone seen that?
