Uh-oh!
I go to drive home from my folks and everything electrical on my truck flickers including the engine. Happened two or three times in first 5 or 10 miles then stops. What do I need to be checking? The battery cables are clean and tight.

Are you externally regulated? I have had regulators do that to me. Time for a internal conversion. . . .

Check the negative ground from the battery to the block--block to the firewall.

All cables and brackets are good and tight. How do I test the regulator?

They are so cheap that I never test them. I just replace, and if it doesn't fix the problem then I know that wasn't it.
