Meaning do they have the same fin design and everything. Can the bowtie be taken off and the GMC emblem put on?

Sounds like a stupid question, I know. Just not sure about the older trucks and if their designs were the same between the two of them.

The appearance is different. The mounting dimensions are the same. Emblems will not interchange either.

Before I changed out mine I had a generic one that didn't use an emblem at all.

I seen one listed for a chevy and was thinking about getting it for my father in laws GMC. I couldn't remember what his looked like but knew it was busted in a couple of places. If the design isn't the same then no use to me. If I find one then its going to have the emblem. He bought it new and would want nothing short of the same thing going back in.

If I'm not mistaken 78 to 80 should be the same. Also, keep in mind that trim levels may change the appearance too.

Yeah, I don't think he would go for that. He has always been a GMC guy for some reason.

Haha thats what the previous owner of my truck did. The only thing left original GMC is the frame and the steering wheel!
