Starter cable question
Hello everyone, newbie here!
I bought my first Chevy pick up about a year ago, a 1979 C20 Silverado Camper Special, 350/th350/14 bolt 3.73. Very well kept original ex-California car from the first owner, Gordova brown/Santa Fe tan, Camel tan interior, it is all there, except the OE small block was replaced with a Goodwrench 350 and the Ac compressor+some brackets are missing. The picture in my avatar was taken 6th of February, when I finally saw it in person, it was snowing and freezing cold, but I was so excited i really didn´t notice any of that. The first test drive with those rock hard Firestone Wide Oval Transport 16.5-tires was something I won´t forget anytime soon. At the same time I discovered, that it had no G80. I´m trying to maintain the factory look everywhere, and I already pulled the engine out to be painted correct GM blue and do some clean up work in the engine bay. This brings me to that question: could somebody explain to me how the positive battery cable is originally routed to the starter and where should the brackets go? I have one still attached to the cable and one is bolted to the top of the frame( very close to the trans cooler lines, near the radiator), both kinda J-shaped, but not identical? If any of you guys could help or even post a pic, I would really appreciate it! Thank you, Antti

I changed the cable on my 76 a little while back & it came from the battery hit a bracket on top of the passenger side frame rail, then hit a bracket on the block by the fuel pump, then hit a bracket off a stud on the oil pan, then to the starter.

JWall, same as what you describe on my '74 GMC Super 1500.
I have all of the front end accessories torn off at the moment. I can take some pictures tonight and/or tomorrow Camper79.

Forgot I had this picture from the other night. Fuzzy crappy phone camera, sorry. It doesn't like low light situations. You can see the one on the frame and can almost see the one on the fuel pump. The one on the side of the pan stud looks different. Nothing special.

Thanks JWall and Bnoon, that helps a lot!
Looks like I´m missing the bracket that goes to the oil pan stud. When the engine was replaced, they left some brackets unattached and some are missing and I´m trying to put everything back the way it came from the factory, since the car is otherwise really original. Not really trying to restore it rather than make it look like a real survivor car in the engine bay also, inner fenders, firewall and core support are still in nice shape, even the jack instruction and the emissions stickers are still in place. I do have couple more questions, but first I have to learn how to post pictures, too difficult to explain otherwise. Bnoon, I hate to ask, but if you could take a pic of the oil pan bracket, that would be awesome! Thank you again guys, Antti
