75' Quad Cab thoughts
So Ive just about got the quad cab ive been working towards and I would like to start getting opinions on what i have thought of doing. My initial plan is throw in the 454 ive got for ocassional driving duties. After that i will most likely start on the interior. I was looking at removing the seat setup it has currently has and build a custom center console. Also i would like to install the poly performance console shifter and get the one off the steering column. I am up in the air about carpet or rhino lining. I would prefer to go towards workability and durability. Now i am looking into converting to a 4wd rather than 2wd as i will be moving to Colorado come August. I plan on building the drivetrain for snow. Engine wise i am thinking about saving up for a 6.0 or an 8.1. Originally i was thinking diesel but with the frigid temps i would rather not have any gelling issues. Sounds rediculous but its been happening. Plus i believe driveability would be better with a FI than turbo diesel. Sooo any thoughts?? I will possibly be working on the truck this weekend a bit so i can try and get some more photos. Here is what ive got ATM.

It ain't too bad lookin. Solid than what's here. DirtyLarry has a 8.1 in his k10 and vets 18? Mpg. That is what i will do one day. Turbo diesel are awesome but the swap gets expensive FAST. Regardless good luck!! Also better to have 4wd n not need it than need and not have!

not to mention diesel is over $1 more a gallon right now, mines getting an 8.1

How about making it a dually? You already have enough parts to do it. Even without toughing the brown truck. Front should only take a rotor swap. The rear should just be an axle swap. The blue and white bed already has the side trim on too.

Eh, I have weighed that option and its still on the table. However weve got nothing but duallys at the buisness so i feel i would rather something different. Weve got an 82' scottsdale 30, the 79' used to be "in commision" for work and a 2010 gmc sierra dually. I just think a single wheel axle is less common in the Pagosa area.

If you are planning on using it in Colorado, in the snow, don't go dually. Living in Saskatchewan, I can tell you duallys are terrible in the snow and ice unless you have them loaded right down all the time.
Single wheel is the way to go. |
