Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Ok, Rockauto has them at $20 but +$20 core charge. Or $45-50-ish without. But I notice none of their listings are clear about whether its for a booster or not. Hmmm...
Posted via Mobile Device Now I'm wondering if there's a nifty drawing like the one above for a Task Force truck? GOnna search here and on Stovebolt. Anyone know anything about this? Last edited by Dan in Pasadena; 01-17-2013 at 09:03 PM. |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
When I get ahold of Ghostrider I will ask if the rails and mounting holes are the same.
Anyone have a club meeteing or a buddy with one or the other to take some measurements? |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Good info Trekster, thank you
I'm going to stick with GM if I can, but for those with MII Ifs that's a great option. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Isn't it irrelevant if you're using a Mustang-based IFS or not? Am I missing something?
Besides, that $67 MC is more expensive than the $40-ish for the Nova, Chevelle, C10 one so why would I use it? Is there an advantage I am not aware of? |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
It will do the same thing, but its designed for a F*%D, I just want to stay all GM hence my choice of the malibu, nova or corvette. If I was going to do an IFS front, I would graft in a monte, camaro etc. Not knocking the MII, but its just "the other brand" than what I'm used too.
I'm also going to use a NEW master and not a rebuilt one, so the $$'s will be in the $40-$50 range Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Got ahold of ghostrider. He builds and ships the brackets for $50. Reids52@aol.com is the best way to reach him.

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
No I haven't so I guess I should. I'd use a $20 "special" from Rockauto and save a bunch.

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
If you haven't already purchased, you may want to give Ralph a call at ECI he has some good info and prices. He will "engineer" the M/C to the size of the wheel cylinders. I have used his products on the last three trucks

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
No, I haven't purchased the master cylinder yet. Thanks for the head's up.
I bought (what I think is) a CPP kit, new-in-the-box with the brackets, calipers & bearings from a guy who had bought them for his '54 and then sold it. He SAID they'd also fit a '55-'59 and I did a little research at the time and it seemed to be correct info. This stuff has been sitting in a drawer in my garage since I found out I didn't have enough vacuum to run a power boosted MC. Now that Rude Dude has clued me into an alternative approach without swapping the cam I want to get this upgrade installed! I'll look into ECI and give Ralph a call. I've got an unknown 10 bolt rearend in my truck and of course the CPP calipers which are...what? Probably Camaro calipers? Possibly C10's? |

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
I pulled the trigger and am using the $50 bracket kit shipped from ghostrider aka Steve or reids52@aol.com. He has a few C10 master brackets already made up and would have had to make one for the Corvette cylinder. I am using a NAPA 1" bore drum/drum master for a 1970 C10 2 wheel drive part number NMC M1880 here:
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...880_0358745331 I chose that one for a couple reasons. Readilly available locally unlike the GM A/C Delco one, its NEW not cheap rebuilt and it has a single wire snap cap instead of dual wire. I thought messing with 1 wire cap under the floor board would be less hassle than a 2 wire set up. Once I get the bracket, some hardware, a dedicated rear line and cut down a 3/8 rod to fit, I will start taking some pics and detail the swap in case anyone wants to follow along. Again, I am running drum /drum and using a master cyl for drum/drum or disc/disc so it will work for my application. For those running front disc, there are other choices out there or you can install a manual adjustable valve to dial down the front pressure and use this same cylinder. For those running drum/drum or disc/disc and getting a disc/drum cylinder you MUST remove the restricor in the forward port to equalize pressure for your drum/drum or disc/disc system. Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
I do realize this is for a non power conversion but has anyone done this including a power booster? I'm interested in doing this on a 52 3100. Thanks.

Subscribed for future use. Thanks for sharing the swap info Newfisher, I am curious at the total cost involved.

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Since this thread was last active - back in January, I found/bought a new, unused CPP frame mount bracket, non-boosted dual MC & the adjustable proportioning valve all for $150. CPP sells the kit for $219, so it was a good deal.
Of course I haven't installed it yet. I've gotta order a tube bending tool of some kind and (from another thread) it looks like I'll be going with the nickel-copper, easier-to-bend lines already flared from Jeg's....probably.

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
Anyone have anything good/bad to say about THESE bending tools:
Amazon.com: Eastwood Brake Line Tubing Bender and... ...cause I JUST ordered them! Hope I won't regret the expense. There were cheaper ones, but...

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
i have a similar bender. it's ok but the radius is a little big and it grips to far from a fitting to be usefull. the pliers look like more for tweaking bends.
a dedicated 3/16 bender is best. this one is on ebay has a 5/8 radius and grips closer to the fitting. i was able to borrow one of these when i did my brake lines. see if you can borrow a nice one, you'll only use a 3/16 bender for brake lines this one has a tighter radius. also sells for $130

Re: who has DRUM brakes with a DUAL master cyl?
BORROW ONE? When I JUST spent $60 buying one? I don't think so.
I'd read about the Eastwood one a couple of times elsewhere and the pliers were recommended too. Seems like a 1" radius ought to be tight enough but I guess we'll see. I know to make a sample piece using a scrap piece of tube in varying degrees. Posted via Mobile Device

Has anyone done this upgrade with a power booster keeping the drum brakes? With the duel master cyl. Upgrade also.

Did he make the rod and bracket for $50?
