Long bed stepper questions

Hi all,
I've been looking for a stepside long bed, and I had a couple questions;
-Are they rare/low production, hard to find, etc.?
-What's an average going price?
(I bought a dodge long stepper a couple years ago and they're pretty rare (for Dodges) so I paid a pretty penny)
-it is a basic swap for a standard long bed correct?
(I know when I swapped my long stepper on my dodge I just had to change the fuel filler neck but it was a dual tank.)
Thanks

Re: Long bed stepper questions

The long steppers are somewhat low production compared to the shorts. But they are also not quite as desirable as the short steps either. A lot of them get cut down to shorts or just parted out. There's a good number of members with long steps here on the forum. I like them because there is just not that many of them left, so they are unique. But unique does not always equal desirable. I don't know about price, but I got mine last year as a basket-case for $500. Tried to sell it on CL at the end of 2013 for $1500 but no takers. Now I'm gonna keep it because it's different from most you see on the road.

Re: Long bed stepper questions

Thanks for the info guys, guess ill run my reg box until I can find a stepper long box, I just like the look of them, plus I think they make a lwb look like a SWB, or is that just me?
Anyone have a guess as to what a decent price is in the Midwest?
