Lightbulb Re: Torchered

Moving the company this week. Needed to drop some parts off at Karolina Kustoms and get them out of my ware house.
The roof had a huge dent in it, sort of resembling a by branch falling on it. Now it looks great.

The rear seam is welded up, just waiting for some led seam sealer.

Lonnie hinted towards getting it in paint about April or May. He even hinted towards a trip to SEMA in November. I'm just shooting for the Portland Roadster show for an attempt to be invited to the Salem Roadster show. Probably the only two shows it will ever be in.

It is, took 6 months to find one he liked enough to buy. Very different than a Jap bike being v twin and race inspired. It's terrible to ride in town but really shines out on rural roads.

H ha, I have 2 trucks stuck down there due to i5 closers.

Shane they are all slow going. As long as you get to the finish line is all that will matter in the end. And I will check it out.

Re: Torchered

It's been awhile, this truck has been pretty stagnant. Today the trigger was pulled on moving this truck to a new shop in the Greater Portland area. I met the owner years ago when I was sporting my Nova around and the things we talked about doing came out years later in the pages of magazines. Friday is the big day and against everyone's advise I notified the current shop. They seem just fine with the decision, I hope it goes that smoothly. Here is looking at an open road behind the wheel of my rig someday soon!

Re: Torchered

Few im in some pain today, hip started hurting yesterday and I just cannot stretch it out. Then today the truck was moved to Finn's Auto Restoration in Woodburn Oregon. And I was told basically the money invested from my nova was wasted. God why do I always get stuck at the back of the line. So maybe with 30-40k I can finish this truck. What a bleep bleep bleep man.

We did order some new doors as the 1/4 inch of no do on the kin dig it handles wasn't ok. 10 steps back .....

Hopefully by the end of the month the body panels will be fit and some gaps fixed. (Scratch my head), I'm going to have to decide what the finish is going to be, how about some old John deer seats to cut costs! LoL

Re: Torchered

Big rims are in these days, use some old wooden ones to cut cost, things that used to be in come back...right. Hard to always win isn't it.

Well I am in Oregon and that is where the Oregon Trail ended. Some one must have a stock pile of all those wagons that went west and ended there trips here! Great idea!!

Re: Torchered

Dropped by the shop, spent well over an hour taking inventory of parts stashed away in boxes and tubs. There is a lot more parts than I imagined.

Re: Torchered

"Bummed out" is today's word. Stopped by Finn's to check up on things. Yea not so good. So there is alot of body work (metal) issues. We had to sit down with the two metal fabricators and talk about what had happened. The fact there is so much invested it should be done and driving now and that I am interested in making it nice but it won't be to what they say are "there specs". Dan and Glen were very understanding.

So when you pull out a straight edge things are not so good. And about 1/4 of bondo was removed on the beds sides. There are a couple dents on the beds sides. The rear lower quarter where it's been missed to fit the rear bumper is rolled forward to back and accross the back tailgate area the rear corners roll forward. It's supposed to be square. So yea life has given me some lemons at this time. You know an LS motor isn't sounding so expensive anymore....

Re: Torchered

When the sh*t hits the fan...
During my last visit in October I was told " we ordered new bedsides because we tried to fix the rear lower quarter but we just can't make it look right, and the tail lights are sloped in. There not supposed to do that so this will be easier"
And I say "ok". On the way home the $$$ signs start rolling through my head so I call them the following Monday and askthem to halt any more work. A couple crazy weeks go by and I make it to the shop and speak with the chief fabricator Dan. He explains how and the whys and that it won't cost as much as I'm thinking because they know the pickle I'm in.

Now the bed is nothing but a substructure. Both side skins and tailgate skins have been removed. 67 bed sides are going on. Which means the rear has no bumper mods and side marker holes while the front has both. Time and fitment will tell how that plays out but I think the side markers will stay. Oh how many things have changed. lol I've waited 4 years to see my wheels on this thing and it looks like it won't be my Christmas present. Perhaps my birthday in May. Cheers to all of you and have a great December!
