Need to get "stuff"...(dirt and mabey some rust ??) out of the INSIDE of these doors so that I can por15 them. How do I get the crap out and get the POR15 in with out (gulp) cutting an access hole?? Any and ALL help will be appreciated!!

I would consider cutting access holes and then make a cover that could be screwed back into place. To hide the access holes I would have some carpeted panels made up to match the interior carpet and then attach those.

We had our upholstery guy make the carpeted panels up using a
good grade of boarding and attached matching carpet. We are using chrome trim screws with trim washers for attaching the carpet boards to the doors.

I am not sure if it is original or not but all of the doors on my son's Burb had carpet on the lower part of the doors.

You could also cut/drill holes on the hinged ends and get some plastic grommets to cover them. Wouldn't show so bad in that area if you didn't want to weld them back. Just a thought.

Here's what I did to my doors....might not be the answer you wanted, but I believe this is the best cure....that bottom seam on the door skin just catches too much moisture over the years and will cause problems down the road. I cut off the bottom 6 inches of the door skin. This gives you plenty of access to the inside of the door...allows you to clean it out and por 15. Then weld on a new skin. While the don't make a patch panel for the barn doors, a good welder could easily use one for the truck doors...it really solves the problem. And keep in mind these doors were really in good shape....there was just no way I was going to put a good paint job on them when I could see all that crap down there waiting to cause problems later.

You could try blowing it out with air. I would take a long time to get it all, but short of cutting it's all I can think of.

If they were my doors I would just drill a hole in the bottom of the doors shake or vacuum the rust flakes out then get a hand pump sprayer like walmart sells and use rust converter its real thin and sprays nicely. You should be able to soak the inside of the doors and with a hole on the bottom it might make a nice drain if your window seals ever leak.

Jodie, if you do the hole in the bottom of the door, first find some body plugs.That way you can use the right size drill bit to make the holes and they will be sealed.If the windows are out it might be possible to clean the inside with some sort of media blasting thru the holes.I would also do as suggested and use a rust converter.

i would make a small hole in the cetner of the inner door and try using one of the vacuum attachemnts for computers etc inside the door to get out what wouldnt fall out seal it and then cover the door with carpet like somoene else suggested
