Grrr... TH400 kickdown connector, where is it?!?

Well, what should have been a 15-minute job turned out to be a bust. Why? Because I can't seem to locate with any sort of confidence where my kickdown is supposed to plug in at on this TH400. There appears to be only one place on the driver's side, but there's a wire that comes off of that connection, routes up and into the cab and up to the column.

Can anybody point me in the right direction here? Am I looking in the wrong place or did the PO screw it up?

That would be the wire.

Check to see what the other end is hooked to on the column. PO may have used a throttle-activated switch out of something newer.

There are only two connections on the kickdown switch on a 71-72 and I assume that is what you have. Anyway here is a pic of the 71-72 style switch. The two terminal connections are on the back side as it is pictured. One is 12 volt power, the other is the wire that goes to the side of the transmission, (black wire).

So the one and only connection on the driver's side of the TH400 is for the kickdown, right? My kickdown is a throttle linkage activated doodad that takes 12v from the battery and makes a connection to the tranny.

How is the TH400's neutral safety hooked up? Is that handled via some other mechanism?

Do yourself a huge favor. Get the kickdown kit from lokar. It's inexpensive, looks awesome and works like a dream.

combo reverse neutrel safety switch
the reverse side of the switch----------green wires

Perhaps, but it's real hard to beat holding in my hand now vs $70 to have it a week from now. The switch isn't the problem nor is the linkage or bracket. The problem is making damn sure I know where to plug this thing in at!

thats the combo reverse and neutrel safety switch at the base of the steering collium......the switch you asked about......
it's actavated by moving the gear selector.......
thats both side's of the switch

The kickdown solenoid is in the trans and the wire that comes out goes to the switch sometimes at the carb on the linkage, but as you can see sometimes under the dash. just put a switch in line from the solenoid to power that will activate when you step on the gas. I used a horn button on the floorboard.
