Small block accessories

I have a 1972 K10 that has been converted over to a big block. As a side note, I ran the head numbers and it looks like it is a 1966 oval port 396, something you'd have found in a Chevelle or a Corvette.

Anyway, I don't particularly see any need for the big block. If I wanted to go back with a small block setup, are there differences between the truck vs. car accessories and such? Would a later year truck setup work? Just looking for some ballpark information.

Re: Small block accessories

A small block is a small block 307 or 350.

Re: Small block accessories

A very popular upgrade on our trucks is a serpentine belt upgrade by using the bracket off of the small block from 89-95 C and K trucks with the 305 ,350 and the 4.3 V6. The S-10 also had the same bracket on the 4.3 from 88.5 model year[there were a lot of mid year changes made to that truck]through the 95 year. Also the newer ones will fit from the 96 to 98 trucks but the A/C is on the driver side for those years and I think is less desirable. If you do go that way make sure to get a water pump for those years as they have a reverse rotation and will make your motor run hot,and you also need the fan as well. Jim
