the kit comes with a door you can cut out for the master. Making vs. buying, I think i'd rather buy it. Its cheap compared to buying the sheet, making templates an hoping you get it right the first time. Floors can be a big PIA and I think that this makes it easier and more enjoyable to do in the hobby sense. Long drawn out projects get old quick. This whole thing took us about 26 hours to do. figure you could do it in 30 hrs not having done it before. but you would have to add on the time to source steel and make the floors if you were making your own.
