454 BBC Swap

I know this forum is riddled with 454 swap threads and build logs, but I haven't quite found what I have been looking for.... So, Here we go.

I have a 1969 C-10 with a later model 350 crate sitting between the frame rails. I have been told that the motor runs, but I haven't been able to verify for many reasons. BUT, I have some ideas for my self.

My manager has a 1999 Suburban 2500 that is fully functioning other than the trany, that's no big deal. He will sell it to me for $1500. My idea is to take the Vortec 7.4L (454) out along with many other parts like all the serpentine system, the AC Compressor (wanting to add to a Vintage air system later), FUEL INJECTION, ECU, wiring harness, maybe even the seats and console... Etc. Then sell off the parts I don't use on CL.

This is my inspiration for the 454. This is a user on this board's truck. (I can't remember who it is) But I would like for it to look a lot like this. May not be possible unless it has a TBI, which it doesn't.

Would it be worth it for a parts vehicle?

Re: 454 BBC Swap

Somewhere in the upper 2's lowers 300,000's I'm planning on a full rebuild, a over bore, and a cam. This will of course will lead to an ECU reprogram too.

If I were to pull a 454 out of a Junk yard and buy an Ez EFI system I'm already looking at close to $2000 with out a rebuild or any of the running gear.

Re: 454 BBC Swap

You can do what you are talking about doing. It is possible to put a late 454 in an early vehicle. I assume you will use the 4L80 trans and have it rebuilt? If was going to go to all the trouble, I would go with an LS. But either way it would definitely be fuel injected. You are on the right track.

Re: 454 BBC Swap

The LS is always a sweet way to go, but my money tree doesn't produce as much as others...
