cut BBC springs

ok so it is a cold frozen mess outside, so I am inside staying warm and plotting
I have thought about swapping the front springs in my truck with a pair out of a truck that had a 402 in it, cut those down to get part of the 3/4 drop I had planned, with the thought of heavier springs less roll up front to aid in handling in the turns,

any thoughts of this idea?

Re: cut BBC springs

a sway bar would work, replacing all rubber in the suspension, I want an overall drop of 3" in the front and 4" in the rear,

Re: cut BBC springs

I have 3/4 ton springs in my truck that are stock height and it still leans a good amount although not as bad as my cut half ton springs on my other truck which had a 3/4 drop. Although when I added a swaybar with urethane middles made a huge difference. Adding a rear again made a big difference

Cut half ton springs should do fine with some 3/4 ton swaybars. Unless you want all out performance with no regard to ride quality. Then one ton springs and swaybars will do the job.

Re: cut BBC springs

i have the tall one ton BB DRW coils. the heaviest ones they made with two coils cut off (even stiffer rate now). I like how it rides, but too stiff of coils can cause understeer but i added more caster and a little neg camber and i almost always oversteer first so its not a problem. I also have a 1 1/4 bar in the front.

Re: cut BBC springs

I read the suspension thread, about switching control arms to add caster, I have 3 miles of dirt road I have to drive everyday, so I do need a certain amount of ride quality, but I want it to handle well in the turns, so it looks like I'm at that that compromise between all at handling, and ride quality
the springs I have are half ton BBC springs, I was thinking take a coil out of them, and a drop spindle, then a heavier sway bar, some frame cross bracing, relocate the gas tank to the rear, and relocate the rear hangers
