Picture request - factory vac gauge connections to the back of the dash

I agree with all the above comments. I'd suspect that the OEM vacuum on heavier ton trucks were used primarily to ensure good vacuum for braking and not so much the engine itself. That's not my intent. Mine is to monitor engine performance.

If that is the case, you will need to account for eng vs body vibe as was mentioned above. Even if a hard line is used, there has to be rubber in the process somewhere to account for that. I am going to put rubber in between the two ends. I am going to have a hardline under the hood and run into the grommet where the oil pressure runs and from there put a piece of rubber through the grommet about one inch towards the motor and make it look like part of the grommet. cleans it up a bit and looks more factory I think. I will run a rubber hose on the inside to the line on the gauge so it will be easier to remove from the dash. Ill post a pic of the grommet when I have it out next.

this is how im doing mine. from under the hood it will look like a hard line and under the dash it will be rubber. this will make it much easier to remove the gauges as well. the fitting on the back of the gauge is factory from a 73-up gauge cluster.
