Bent Frame Horn
I have a bent frame horn on the passenger side. The front of the frame horn sits about 1" lower than the one on the right. Someone had tried to straighten before I got I got the truck. I'm thinking of cutting it off and using a hydraulic press to straighten it back out then weld it back on in the correct position? Do you think I'm on track with my plan?

No, I would either take it to a frame shop and let them pull it or do it yourself but dont cut it off to do it..

Take it to a shop. Shouldn't be that much and they have all the stuff to get it jacked back into shape.

Why dont you come over and cut the frame horn off a extra frame i am going to scrap and weld it on in place of your bent one. The metal is stretched on yours and is going to have a buckel in it anyway unless you cut it.

Look up different ways to splice it in but I would cut in a new one personally (I've done this before) I cut mine under the cab because mine was tweaked past the motor mounts. (I originally thought it was just the frame horn as well. Pull some measurements with a tape and you can figure out how bad it is.

Before making any final decisions take some measurements in"X" patterns starting with the cab mounts. Go under the cab if they measure the same do the same in the front from the front cab mounts to the core support mounts that will tell you how much it is short. Remember that tape reading will need to be added together then divided by two to give you the difference that it needs to move. Also measure the wheelbase on both sides to make sure they are close to the same, they should be pretty close to the same number although not exact. These simple tape readings will give you the same clues that a frame guy would start off with but they won't let you know that because they won't pull on your truck while your around. Before I had my machine I used frame guys half way across the state it could all be the same they might be sitting on their thumbs but if I brought them a frame to pull they might put it up on the rack but never start to hook it until I would leave. We [my dad and I ]always thought they didn't want to see how quickly a lot of pull were made. After I got my machine that just reinforced that theory. Jim
