Wiring In Alternator

For those that have the GMPP wiring harness and front accessory drive, how did you wire in the LS alternator into the existing system? (72 C10 here) It is my understanding the GMPP wiring harness has a plug that hooks up directly to the alternator to allow the ECM to regulate its charging. Then it's just a matter of running the charge wire back to the battery, correct? (Or wire it back into the factory splice where the stock alternator tied in?). How did you guys clean up all the old external regulator wiring!

All u would need to hook up in the 12volt red wire on back of the alterator

Yup, the brown wire goes to ECM, The computer will handle that Longhorn

But as far as the existing wiring that went to the old external regulator and the old alternator, just leave it unplugged? I was looking at the wiring diagram and it looks like if one unplugged the old alternator it would leave some circuits incomplete, right?

All I know is they plugged my up and it works fine. I guess I need to look at it closer to see what they did in case I need to work on it.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I am running carbureted, (edl intake & module). What I did to tie mine in, was to use the factory truck wire (brown), & hook it to the brown wire on the LS truck alternator, with a 470 ohm resistor. It charges as it should, & should make the idiot lite on the dash functional? I don't have the inst cluster back in, still playing with some of the wiring, so I cant say if the gen lite works...but the system goes charge properly Are you running stock gauges, or is it an idiot lite setup? longhorn

OK here is mine. Not the greatest pictures but it runs back down to the jumper that I did back when I upgraded the old voltage regulator to a internal regulator alternator. It also has the hot wires for the 2 new electric fan relays. The computer wiring is up top.

I eliminated all of the original wiring as well as the regulator, because I do not plan on going back to an old set up. Plus I moved my battery to the drivers side in order to make room for my air filter, so it was all changed a bit.
