throttle knob
My 1970 4x4 has a throttle knob just under the lights knob. Was this only common in 4x4's?It connects right to the trottle cable before the carb.I got mine in working order. I can up my idle speed to 2000rpm if i wanted.

I think that use to be the choke controll in the early truck's.. If you can get it up to 2000 rpm it could be kind of a poor man's cruise control..

I think I remember someone saying it was an option for farm work trucks, so they could let the truck idle along in low gear without a driver.

ive seen two of them and both trucks had PTOs for snow plows thought maybe it had something to do with that

The throttle was an option up to 72. I am not sure of any restrictions on buying the option as we have had four trucks with the factory throttle on them (72 C-20 Camper, 72 4x4, 70 4x4, 71 C-30).
I believe that people opted for throttles in trucks where a throttle would come in handy. Jim |

It is an option. K31 - Manual Throttle.
My '68 has one. It's not in place of the choke, my '68 has that too. I've seen them in all years between '67-'72. Check the glovebox sticker, it's probably there (if you still have a sticker). Used for lots of things. PTOs, plows, whatever you would want your rpms to stay high for. I strongly suggest you DON'T use it for a cruise control, unless you don't like your pickup or your life too much.
