understanding multi paint codes..

Morning guys, is there a chart to give colors in a multi paint code? I know what the individual colors are, but was just curious why they do it that way...Mine is "595" white/maroon/white. thanks....

Re: understanding multi paint codes..

I checked the generic info packet in the GM Heritage Center archives and was surprised to find there was not a chart in there.

In later years there is a chart which shows the various paint options, two tone breakups and recommended interior combinations.

Why who does what what way? The coding?

All of the engineering specifications are a type of shorthand in order to describe the way the vehicle is to be built. It's like a separate language...

Re: understanding multi paint codes..

Thanks for responding Keith, I was just curious, I've seen some post three digit paint codes in the past and always get responses what the multi colors were. I was wondering how they came to know...
