Call Roger at RPL Customs 972-567-3958 he is close to you and is n2billets friend. He installed a painless harness on my burb. It ain't cheap.

I'm working up the patience to tackle my painless wiring install. I bought a kit from a fellow member about 2 months ago. I did one about 15 years ago on 76 K10 when I was 18 and I seem to recall it going okay. I'm hoping to get started soon on my 68.

As far as a recommendation, I've had a few small jobs done by a guy named Jamie McKevlin. He has a small shop in Sachse called Jamie's Performance and Repair. I haven't had enough work done by him to stand by his quality, but the jobs he did for me were done as expected and at a reasonable cost. Just throwing it out there for options.

He has a 72 C10. I think after he did some work on mine, he got the itch to buy one of his own. I don't think he is on this board, though.

I am currently rewiring my 72 suburban in Rockwall. I am using a kit I bought from a guy out of Garland. So far it isn't too bad. I would say it is 75% bolt on kit. Some of the plugs and ends are already there to plug into the GM trucks. Pretty good phone support if you need it. Already helped me out once at 7pm. He knows his GM wiring.

I bought it at a car show for $400.

I am doing it myself in the evenings. It is time consuming, but a lot cheaper than paying someone to do it.

Do it yourself. All of the wire is marked with the device it goes to (i.e. left front turn signal, right front turn signal, parking lights etc.). Most of the plastic plugs are already on the wire. You'll need to get some wire loom to cover the wire with. I like the woven nylon stuff, it's inexpensive, comes in several sizes and colors and it looks good. You will also need a few different sizes of heat shrink tube, solder and a soldering iron (you can get this stuff at Radio Shack).
Plan, plan, plan and plan some more. Figure out where/how you will route your wire for each accessory group (Head light/turn signals/running lights etc.), stretch them out, cover them with loom, route the harness you created, connect the devices...piece of cake. I did it...it only took me about a week (or two). If I can do it you can do it!
Remember to solder and heat shrink tube all of your splices. The crimp on connectors can cause you problems down the road. Run extra ground wire...this will save you headaches later on.

just do it yourseld. I did mine using a painless general 16 circut. I took all the factory connectors off and reused them on the new harness. I bought the tool aid crimper and it worked great for packard 56 terminals.
