Followup for no power to the wheels.

So I messed with the timing and got it very responsive, set up what I'd consider close to dialed in. I noticed the brake light is stuck on and this bothers me. It'd make sense to me if the brakes were stuck applied on, even just one of them. When I drive it it feels like that. For example, if you drive a car and forget to turn off the E-brake.. That's what it feels like. For people that don't understand, here's the original post:

So I just got my new motor in, it DEFINITELY makes more power than my old engine.. I shift it in to gear (it's an automatic. Th350 on a 350 small block.) And go to accelerate.. the RPM'S are on track but the RPM's aren't matching how much power it should be putting out. Hard to explain.. It is obvious the power is there but it's not putting the power to the wheels like it should be. Please help.

What did you end up changing your base timing to? What heads are you running?

I just adjusted it until the throttle was very responsive and it sounded right. I didn't use a timing light. Just did it by ear. I'm using stock heads.

Re: Followup for no power to the wheels.

it sounds like one of your brakes are hanging up.
you could have a multitude of brake problems but too narrow it down to one or more wheels go for a short ride and then feel your wheels.
they should /might be warm but if a brake is hanging up on one or more wheels they will be noticeably hotter.

thats where i would start.
brake hoses, wheel cly, calipers, brake springs,e brake cables and just plain old gunk could make this happen.

Re: Followup for no power to the wheels.

I lifted up the truck and spun all wheels by hand when it was in neutral. Not the brakes. The tranny fluid is very full. Next step I'm going to take is transmission filter swap.
