Question Brake Booster combo

Hi all,
Looking for some advise on where or who has a good power brake booster/master cylinder combo kit for drum front and drum rear brakes.
What I am looking for is the whole set up. I do currently have power brakes but not real happy with the set up.The truck does stop much better than non power but sometimes I find brake fluid seems to get forced out of the master cap. The booster I do have now is a bit old and not real appealing and I am not real sure what year of truck it came out of. I got it free from a friend of mine (the price was right) at the time. I have seen alot of combos on this site, just looking for more details. Hopefully the picks give a good idea of what I already have. Any help would be great, and thank again.

Re: Brake Booster combo

If you have brake fluid coming out the cap you need a new cap seal or you have it over filled. Or if you want new with free shipping, here you go.

Re: Brake Booster combo

I'm in somewhat of the same boat. My 71 (disc up front) does not currently have power brakes and my master cylinder just went out so I figured I would upgrade. I looking for the stock rebuilt or close to stock looking parts. Hopefully someone will help us both out.

Not to hop on a different subject but…..how come your engine looks like it is stuffed into the firewall? Big block fan shroud?

Re: Brake Booster combo

Guys, may not be as pretty as some of the chrome set ups but I took the advice of some members here and got a Captain Fab bracket and an O'Riely single 10" booster. Keeps it close to the firewall, works perfectly and didn't cost a bundle.

Re: Brake Booster combo

I got mine on ebay for under 200 bucks plus free shipping. It's a CPP unit. I have a 1972 GMC 150 Super Custom with front discs and rear drums.

No problem, the truck originally had the inline 6 banger in it, and the set up for the 3 speed manual tranny and drive shaft was left the way it was. It's not the original fan shroud either.
The plan some day is to upgrade to 700r4 overdrive auto tranny, and I think I can move the engine forward abit.

Funny you mention summit, I drove down to Florida in early January and actually stopped at their store in Georgia. There was so much to look at I didn't even think of that, not to mention our wives limited our browsing time,,

Re: Brake Booster combo

I have never personally used this company but I was turned on to them.
The prices seem almost to good to be true, but I was assured they are legit parts.

Re: Brake Booster combo

My sons brake master went out, he bought a new one that looks like the one on yours. the old one had a bolt on lid. After we got it on he drove it to school when he got home it was leaking around the lid. went back to the parts store and they said that sometimes when they reman those they mill to much off and the lids will not seal right. So they gave him a NEW one that was like his old one. But he to is wanting to make it power, its drum/drum for know.

I'll be brief as to not derail too much here. But yes it is! It's a dealer installed model. It's not hooked up, but I still have all the parts for it. It's basically a conversation piece for me.
