1966 windshield wiper stud too small?????
I don't drive it in the rain that often so over the past 30 years it hasn't been an issue. I am however taking it on the Hotrod Power Tour this year and knowing my luck it will rain the entire time. With that said, we have NEVER been able to keep wipers on the truck. They fall off after running a while. I finally drug another 66 in here today and compared mine to the other one and my studs are 1/2 the depth as the other truck. Did my truck come with a shallower cup type wiper or has the wiper just wobbled enough on the stud to grind down the back side of the stud making it 1/2 the depth as the original?
I have never seen this on any of my other trucks. any thoughts??? the blue one is mine and both sider are exactly the same. The red one is what I looked at today.

The splined shank is actually hollow on the part closest to the truck. So it's not unusual for that section to crack and break away from the solid section. I don't think those parts are sold separately so the only way to fix it is to replace the whole wiper transmission/linkage assembly. |
