I love to weld~ I'm not the greatest, but it's fun! I built the Jackracks, but on the first day, I pulled out the Northern Tools auto-darkening hood, and a normal hood, but something seemed wrong with the Northern tools hood, like it was blasting my eyes.
I've been wanting a nice hood, and this did the trick! I can actually see what I'm welding now and I'm a better welder now! I know I could have probably shopped around, but 250 for a good hood seemed fair.

But it also has modes for welding, cutting, and grinding, then the darkness can be set, etc.

A good helmet makes all the difference in the world. You will be shocked how much better your welds look and how much easier it is.

I use one of those all the time at work and at home. Great helmet. The only thing I don't like is you have to remember to hit the Auto on/off button if you take a break.

I'd end up blind before I figured out the timing on arc strike and mouth shut.

I watched the video and that accustrike, looks different. It's only a hundred bucks? but I have to think like Dave~ I'd probably not get my jaw going the right direction and blast my eyes too often. However, I do like my new hood

First off, that video has the guy going crazy fast, sorry I never work like that. But once you use it just a short while you don't even think about it.

That chin operated thing looks kind of interesting, but i can say enough good things about my speedglas. they are not cheap, but ive had mine since 2006 and i weld nearly everyday. i would bet it has over 10000 hours of on arc time. Miller hoods are nice for sure, but having tried a few different ones, i still love my 'Glas. i am considering replacing it soon for a newer version of the one i have. then i can retire the everyday hood to my garage and not bring it home every weekend.
