1966 tailgate pivot ball support bracket?? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am about to put all the tailgate hardware back on my bed. One side of my bed had the metal backing plate that the pivot ball screws through. The other side is missing. I was looking at another truck I had here today and that one looks like the backing plate is riveted in. The one on my truck appears to have been screwed it.

Any info on this and does anyone have on? I need one more. I have yet to fing them in the aftermarket wirld.

I saw that also. Only thing I can imagin is that different plants did it different. Mine has bolted in, my parts truck ( also a 65) had the weld in.

Thanks larry! I dont know if they are left and right?? I need passenger side if thet are different. I bet they are the same.

'72, the spare ones I have are on my old '66 bedsides which I replaced with better bedsides from a '65 donor. the ones on the '65 were bolted. the ones on the '66 are spot welded. If no one else chimes in and says they have one, I can try to drill out the welds. if it's ok, lets wait a few hours and see if anyone has one. I'm pretty sure they are different pass vrs driver's

wait a minute, I HAVE to have some somewhere, cause I made the ones for the good bedsides (cause I did away with the chains and put brackets on) let me look some more--I have lots of junk
