Thermostatic Spring Replacement
Hello all, looks like I need to replace the thermostatic spring on the exhaust manifold. Does anyone have any suggestions on replacing the spring and reconditioning the rest of the unit? Seems crazy to recondition the manifold and not recondition that part of it. I have the 51 engine in a 49 AD PU. Here is a good picture and description of the unit. The 3 parts are the spring, counter wheight and pin. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...51ctsm0605.htm
Any help is greatly appreciated. Pat

Re: Thermostatic Spring Replacement
I found this but I'm sure other sellers have it.

Re: Thermostatic Spring Replacement
I usually remove the internal plate, it usually is frozen shut, or wire it open. Unless you are going to be starting the truck in very cold weather it should not be an issue.
