Heater Control Assembly Levers...
Mine are hard to move. Is this something that I can fix with lubricants around the house? Or am I going to be looking at replacing parts? The main one that is hard to move is the top one. I am not certain what it is control since the labels are gone. I planned on buying a rebuild kit for it along with new cables, but wanted to see if I can get it half way working for the time being. I appreciate the suggestions, thanks

Top is heat/defrost control. Follow the cable and move the lever and see if the door moves freely.

Some of the new rebuild kits have steel levers instead of pot metal, make sure you get those; ten times stronger. Last edited by RUSHNBOBO; 10-18-2011 at 05:21 PM. |

Re: Heater Control Assembly Levers...
Well after going out and inspecting, two of the cables weren't hooked up. The Fan and the heat one. I got them hooked up and cables realigned so that they will stay on. The defrost cable is on and it is still hard to open and close. I will take the advice here and lube up the cable and pivot point. I will determine at that point if its the door itself that is hard to open or the cable maybe being gummed up too. Thanks for the help guys

Also make sure the cable doesn't have a kink in it.
Hard to move levers are common on these as well as broken ones!

40 year old moving parts respond well to cleaning and lubrication
