My Speaker And Ashtray Grill Project
I am not sure if I submitted this at some point in my past. I looked through the site and could not find it. If I did, please excuse the post. If I did not then enjoy the post. Either way I am happy to provide information. Most of you probably found out about doing this a long time ago which puts me behind time I guess. If you did, you shouild have shared this sooner and saved me a lot of time. If you did not know about this then we all learn something new every day. Everytime I find something new I want to share it. So enjoy. I found out quickly that for some unexplained reason you can buy a Stainless Steel Glove Compartment door but not a Speaker/Ashtray Grill. Under the painted surface is non stainless steel. This makes not sense to me but like all the other after market parts you get what you caan get and move on stuck with what you do not want. Many people paint these the color of the dash and move on. I could have had it chromed but I wanted it to look like the stainless glove box door. So, I had a company in my area (Race Tech) buff it down and put clear powder coating on it. It will last forever and looks just like SS.
