Tie directly in the pink wire from your iginition switch straight to the HEI, thats how mine is 22 years ago.....

You can tap into a full 12 volts easily at the fuze box using one of the "Ignition Unfused" terminals. Or you can tap a full 12 volts from the ignition switch as indicated.

I believe you can then eliminate the wire runningh from the starter to the dizzy...

I'm guessing with full time 12 volts you are 97% percent fixed.....after that, with luck, it'll simply be inspection and tuning.

Rich...is this the pink wire you are talking about???? 1st picture. Second picture....I noticed on my fuse box where my finger is pointing..it says "Ignition unfused" will that supply enough voltage to the hei? And or work?

The pink wire from your ( after ) ignition switch, anything before that is not swtched...back of your switch will be marked ign or run.

don't run it to your fuse box extra terminal. follow the pink wire back to the fuse box and install it there. you may have to remove the fuse box+

Well...my new HEI works like a dream. I ended up hooking it to the starter solenoid. Works great, burns the fuel no issue. Plugs are now running a tad hot, but since I run 92 octane I should be fine. All the wiring around the valve cover and by the starter has been loomed up since the picture was taken.

Why are you using 92 octane?

Low octane will cause pinging or detonation, which will result in severe engine damage. Older engines like high octane low ethanol. I use Shell high octane in my new cars once in a while. It cleans the fuel injectors.

Bout 95 in all cylinders last I checked. Brand new from factory was 8:0:1...and that's MAYBE 130 pounds....so...runs good.
