Question Performance Parts Pricing

Vendors I have a question for you that maybe you should just pm me with an answer.

We have an Atech Motorsports [Summit Racing] commercial account at work and my boss has agreed to buy the parts I need thru Atech. Is there an average number dollar wise that I would be saving by buying it thru them vs Summit?

Just for pricing sake say the LS Controller from MSD for the carb conversions. Summits part number is msd-6010 for $344.95

Thank you

It depends on how much your boss buys a year. I've on occasion paid retail from Atech.

Re: Performance Parts Pricing

Per year I would say around 20K plus.

Re: Performance Parts Pricing

I/we have always had better luck getting pricing from the individual companies, with a few exceptions. Anything GM/Precision Turbo/ATI we can sometimes get for under what many shops pay wholesale, and we get many GM parts for less than GM dealers do... The give there is that we are allowed to piggyback parts (they know we do this) on a billion-dollar companies account. They spend 5-8mil a year with GM, so the discount is substantial, around 10% over ACTUAL cost, whereas wholesale tends to be 10%+ wholesale cost.

With the individual companies for specialty parts, or model specific stuff, we still had better luck going direct to company/manufacture with a tax # and telling them what we wanted to do. Thankfully the hotrodding community still can work on the trust system, and we've been extended nice deals, in some cases without a credit check. Its all about how you talk to people, and who you talk to.

If there is anything specific you want to do, let me see if I can help. I can't extend our discounts, but I might be able to point you in a good direction.
