Coilover spring rate

Ok guys, Im ready to order my front coil overs so I can finally move on to finishing the rear of my chassis. For those of you running coil overs what spring rate are you using? I will have the C4 (obviously) front and rear suspension and running a 5.3/4l60e combo.

Re: Coilover spring rate

Josh, I think a lot of it has to do with the length of shock and length of spring. On my MII front end which has an 8" coil spring, I'm using a 700# coil spring. This is also what QA1 recommended for my truck, engine, ac, etc....Jim

Re: Coilover spring rate

Thanks man, From my reading it looks like 500# springs is what I would use. Hopefully someone with the C4 swap will chime in.

Re: Coilover spring rate

Between 450 - 500# is what they said I needed for mine. I am using the full rear suspension w/ mono leaf though. Only coil covers in the front

Re: Coilover spring rate

650# should be much closer than the 500# rate you first mentioned. The Vette lower control arm uses a more outboard coilover mounting point than most. This allows a little lower spring rate to be used, but the 500# rate with the stock engine location may be too soft.

Re: Coilover spring rate

Sounds great guys. I'll go with the 650# ones if that's what FlatOut is selling. They did the R&D so I'll trust that. Anyone know the extended length, mounted length, and how much travel they have?
