Smile How do you rig up a temp sending unit?

Im trying to fix my temperature sending unit. Is there any way to rig up a new one and bypass the pressed circuit? I think there may be something wrong with it. I'v e replaced the gauge, thermostat thingy, and the wire leading to it. What am i doing wrong? someone please help me. Is it possible to make a stand-alone temperature gauge.

Is your printed circuit good? There should be a complete path for it thru the board. If you want to bypass the board, just connect the green wire(pull it out of the plug or jumper it) to the post on the back of the guage. This will tell you which part of your ckt is bad. Jeff.

Yes, you can buy an aftermarket guage and use it. Just put the new guage's sending unit in place of the old ones and wire it up according to the instructions that come with the guage. You can get a cheap guage for like $15

Its a tach dash, so i cant just go get one from the parts truck. I have like three spare dashes but no more tach circuits. Some of those copper tabs are loose where the main plug-in goes, thats why im wondering.

Many part's store sending units are no good right out of the box....all you have to do is ground the wire that goes to the sending unit...if it pegs the guage the sending unit is no good
