5 in drop rear- axle on bumpstops?

Hey guys, just bolted up some 5 inch drop springs in the rear of my 65 long bed... Set her down and the axle is on the bumpstops. Seems to me this should not be happening. The bed has two tires and an old radiator in it, so I dont think that's the issue. Does the 5 inch rear drop require bumpstop relocation and c notch usually? What else could be the problem? Thanks for any and all help.

Change your shocks out first, that should help. Most people that do a 5 inch drop don't notch the frame.

Shocks shouldn't be bearing any load though right?

Sounds right, I don't know what else you could change to fix it since you have changed out your springs.

Re: 5 in drop rear- axle on bumpstops?

You have to remove your bumpstops to regain some travel. Shocks have no bearing on this.
