400/208 or 400/205? but yeah 400s are 32 spline. might be easier to put a 27 spline in the 208. i wasnt aware of a 400 and 208 combo.

As much as i been reading, 85 came with a 208. Not sure how to confirm that.

700r with 208 is a 27 spline and 400 with 208 is a 32 spline.

Someone please correct me if im wrong.

nekkidhillbilly, the mtn lion works great!!!

Also, if im correct, the 32 spline makes for a stronger shaft (maybe)??

also be aware if you do find a rear shaft that count the whole trans has to come apart. i thought however the 350/700r came behind with the 208/241 and the 400 was 205.

then you should a np205. k20 came with a 205 unless you swapped it for some reason. have you already spent the money for this trans? if not go get a 4l80e and something to control it. if you have you will need to poney up for the 205 to 700r4 adapater.

Its a 208. In the 80s, only thing the 205 came in was a 1 ton. Everything esle was a 208. 1/2 ton will have 27, 3/4 will have 32. IIRC 86-up 400s are the same, so a 208/205 will swap with their corresponding adapter....

wasnt aware of that. what year was the change over? i think my 84 had the 205 but i may have been wrong its been gone for about 3 years or so. so easiest thing to is change the inputs and add the 4wd spacer/adapter out of a junker or add the 4l80e and a controller. i think the later may be cheaper and stronger.

i was confusing the input shafts with output all 700r4s and 4l60e are 27 spline.

http://www.midwesttrans.com/np208.html has the shaft for about 84 bucks btw.

thanks, i just seen that. $487.00 WOW!!! its a shaft and adapter plate.
Just may get it.

Im going to find out if a 4L80E will work with a 208 TC. If so, Im going with a 4L80E Problem is I can only find Car,truck transmissions No 4x4. SOOO most likely ill need a 4x4 shaft for a 4L80E LMFAO

Re: trans swap to 700r4, where can i find or buy the 4x4 rear shaft??

you should be able to find one out of a new 2500hd. you have to rebuild the trans to convert to 4wd either way. like i said id get a 4wd 4l80e or get a 700r4 and swap the transcase input. 86 bucks vs 500 and the trans is not going to be no stronger. 80e would be my 1st choice. i would think if the 400 bolts up the 80e would.
