Drag racing a 76 3/4 ton chev

First off I know there are waaaaay better options in running the 1/4 mile than a 4500 lb farm truck.

But it was my Dad's before he passed and i want to keep it. I not into the restored original truck thing. And needs to be fun and cool.

doing a 6/8 drop as we speak and the 4L80 swap.

So out goes the 350 and TH350 tranny and in comes the 454 (468) with some nos and a 4l80.

Purpose of this truck is fun and a cool/different delivery truck for customers bikes and quads to/from our Bike shop. Oh ya sound awesome and go fast.

So all that being said a have a couple questions for you drag racers.

looking for around 400-500 hp motor hp + a 100-200 nos down the track.

14bolt FF should be strong enough correct. (with addition of locker or posi)?

do I need to upgrade the 3/4 ton drive shaft or will it hold up to the occasional run down the track?

can you run a trans brake on the 4L80 and keep the auto shift for daily driving?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a cool truck! One thing I would do is swap to disc brakes in the rear...less rotating mass(150+ lbs). For a driveshaft, you can go aluminum....again, less rotating mass....fiberglass hood, remove inner fenders, put a fuel cell behind rear axle....1/2t springs all the way around(keep the 8 lugs though).

2 words... Forced Induction

Also the 14FF is going to be too heavy. It's all about power to weight ratio.

This is a topic more suited for this section: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=60
