need some advice
Hey, guys so I have to make due with what I have available in winnipeg here and thats just my situations of how i started this project.
1. bed sills, has anyone made their own out of 1"x2" channel? or maybe it would be better to go wider? like a 2x2? would this even be possible as long as you have the rear most sill and keep everything flat? 2. heater only no ac options, what are my options available that would let me free up some room in the engine compartment? 3. where is the coolant bottle originally placed withing the engine compartment? 4.the space between the frame and rad support, what does it measure on a 68? if i can get the spacing right i can atleast prefit body panels while i wait for the mount kit to come in. 5.are there any threads or references on the assembly of the long beds?

Re: need some advice
Hey Hyde... Do you have any of your bed sills? Or were they missing from your project? 2"x2" channel or tube would work. Would need pads welded on the channel where it rests on the frame though. The extreme rear sill has a bit more to it. (Behind bumper/under tail gate) may want to source one of those if it's missing.

Re: need some advice
Walker auto has the rears in stock one with my name on it so I'm basically looking at all the others and I believe I have two that weren't completely rotted. I kind of plan on jerry rigging a bed to work creating my own mounts holes etc hoping it works out. I have a few weeks to kill until the front mount kit comes in so thought I would start on the bed. And a few other things.

- 1-I don't know why you couldn't make your own as long as they were the same height as the originals. 2-Aftermarket heat/air is the only thing I know. 3-These trucks didn't originally have coolant overflow bottles so you can use whatever you want and put it wherever you want. 4- About 1/4 of an inch for the '67 & '68's. 3/4 for the '69-'72's LockDoc

Yep, overflow to the ground. If you don't over fill it it shouldn't overflow unless it overheats. Most people overfill them... 26 oz should be plenty if you use one, I never have, and I don't have any problems. LockDoc
