Question auto tranny crossmember questions

I am using a nv 3500 5 speed in my 70 c 10 with an automatic tranny crossmember. The mount holes will align really well. My question is does the end sections of the crossmember go inside the frame rails? And does the mount face toward the front of the truck and on the bottom -even with the bottom part of the frame rails? It looks like the metal side of the mount pad attaches to the transmission and then the rubber side of the mount pad goes against the crossmember. Does this sound right. I plan on using the mount just as if the tranny were an automatic.

If anyone has pics of the crossmember (automatic) mounted along with the tranny that would be great.

If I have not been clear please let me know and I will try to better explain.

thanks for all the great advice.
the crossmember i am using is from www.performanceonline.com
sorry to be so

Re: auto tranny crossmember questions

To dark to take pictures but the cross-member on mine is inside between the rails. I am not sure if a C30 is the same but it should be. Mine has the angle supports from the top to the bottom. The trans mount is wide section steel to the trans and the small rubber incased section to the support.
If I am not mistaken the 4wd had it mounted to the bottom of the frame.

Re: auto tranny crossmember questions

i just painted mine today. it goes inside the frame rails, and there should be an upper and lower flange to bolt to the frame, but my previous owner took a torch to the top flanges... so i'm left with the lower flanges. also, here's the trans mount.

Here are a couple of pics, th400 in a longhorn trans mount. The rear rubber mount, and a manual 4x4.

Re: auto tranny crossmember questions

Just for reference, Energy Suspension makes an excellent replacement tranny mount for that setup. Part number 3-1108.

$20. Summit is great to deal with.

I have a picture of the xmember, but it's not quite the same (or I'd post it). The NV4500 uses a different bottom brace than the auto or 3spd.
