Anyone sell a non-solid, lower-a-arm shaft??

So I have these MOOG lower control arm shafts. I know they are of good quality BUT they weigh a ton. They are a sold 1-1/8 inch shaft. that's bigger than my front sway bar.

Anyways.....Does another company sell one that is drilled though the center? I know these don't need to weigh 20 lbs. each.

Thanx

Your right about them having to be strong. But those shafts could support a 1-ton wrecker or a tank. Do you have any idea the strength of a 1-1/8" bar of steel?

I would also buy aluminum spindles if somebody made them. There is no need for a half-ton truck to have stuff this heavy duty. All they are is heavy.

Ye it would be nice if there was an easy way to shave some weight from the front suspension besides doing the mustang conversions. I've never seen any aftermarket or modified shafts for these trucks, some forged spindles would also be nice and save a little weight. Sorry I'm not any help but this will get you back ttt. Good luck........Stroker

I should do some stress calculations on the spindles and the shafts. I bet you could do over 6g on the skid pad. I bet you could also apply 10 tons to the lower control arm(pulling outward toward the side of the truck).

how about using the 73-87 uppers, with the rubber bushings? little softer ride or put in poly.....stiffens it up but lighter than the metal bushing set up.
