Re: Shucks Daily 97
275/60/r15 something like that.
Guys how stupid would it be to put my carburated freshly built 355 in place of the 4.3? How easy of a swap is that? I've lost total interest in the 79 and want the motor in my truck but don't want the fuel injection because I have the carb and intake ready to go. Any inputs? |

Re: Shucks Daily 97
It would definitely run. I would imagine you would have to redo the computer to keep other things in line to run the carb. I would imagine someone has the info somewhere. Bolting in shouldn't be a problem, just mating the older stuff to all the computer controlled items (tranny..etc).

Re: Shucks Daily 97
I would probably swap to a 700r4 while the motor was out. I think this is what I'll be doing.

Re: Shucks Daily 97
your dash/speedo, fuel & brakes (antilock) all rely on computer, so not sure what all that would mean even if you went to 700R4. Hopefully someone more knowing than me that has done it can respond.

Re: Shucks Daily 97
Oh right right. I see what you mean. Fuel would be mechanical and the pump would have to be removed from my gas tank because that one has too much pressure. Dash and brakes I'm not too sure about though.

Why the loss of interest in the '79?

Mainly because it would blow my wallet to pieces. And this truck is already good to go and rust free. And I just love this truck.

Re: Shucks Daily 97
Changed my mind on the motor, it would be too rigged up in my truck for my liking. So I'm going back to the 79.
The whole front end lights came in a pack of 8 on eBay for like 80 bucks. They do work great and look great too. Just the plastic used is pretty cheap |
