3 on the tree in 1987

I was searching craigslist and saw this add for an 1987 Chevrolet with the 4.3 V6 and a three on the tree. Was a 3 on the tree really offered in 1987? I thought they disappeared in the early 80's.

Here's the for sale add. Too bad I don't kneed another truck it looks like a nice one.

Yes they were still available in 87, you just don't find many though.

Wow that would be something to have a 3 on the tree and fuel injection.

That is a real good looking truck. Chevrolet and red just go together don't they? I didn't see mention of any accessories like steering , brakes or air so that makes it less desireable to most, in the south anyway. I think $6900 is a bit much.

The 4.3 still had a carb in 87 from what I remember.

Negative. First year for TBI in the squarebody was '87.

Edit: Just noticed from the chart below that the three on the tree was available only with the 4.3 V6.

"MM3" is the "merchandised RPO" for 3 speed manual provisions. The other specific powertrain content would drive either the non merchandised RPO M62 (2.85 low gear) or M64 (3.50 low gear) both of which were Saginaw passenger car style transmissions.

Thanks...I could not remember how long the 4.3 stayed using a carb.
