Noisy Starter, Ring Gear Cover Missing
Before I bought my truck, the ring gear and starter were replaced. The starter engages great with no misses (like it did before I bought it). But it is really noisy.
Upon quick inspection from below and here's why. I think something is missing. Now where to get a replacement? |

Re: Noisy Starter, Ring Gear Cover Missing
hmm rust would suggest the gear is not new
not sure how long it would take to rust up but yes that cover, but different for 4X4 or 4X2 my gear was quite worn ,when compared to the new one

Re: Noisy Starter, Ring Gear Cover Missing
the gears on this one a good, it's been out in the weather for a couple of weeks, snow and rain, so it does not take long to get surface rust

Re: Noisy Starter, Ring Gear Cover Missing
Well the starter gear finally gave up, that is what was going bad. Starter replaced, sounds like a new truck starting now.
