what would a good running 1972 402 engine be worth?

That is all matter of want, I would easily pay $500 maybe more if really needed, still a 396 that is .030 over bored and like cubic " myself but to a restorer, who knows.

need more info. Complete? All the brackets? Short water pump? A/C?

yes a/c ,all brackets , mounts and all thinking of buying this truck it is complete and one owner

Probably in the $1000 range complete. Maybe up to $1300 on the right day.

Oh so you get a truck with the engine, ya should have asked more questions, thought you just said engine, I agree, worth more also depends on the shape of truck but engine alone is easy $500.

If it is just the engine and all the brackets and pullies for a SWP. a grand should be reasonable. Quick guess:
A/c brackets $250
alt brackets $100
Power steering $125
72 engine stands $175
pullies $75
Then throw in the engine with carb, air cleaner, heat stove, manifolds etc...
All depending on condition and completeness of course.

I agree, I just meant engine only but with a complete truck you can't go wrong, all the extras are getting really hard to come by now. Can't beat every nut and bolt.

thanks guy, there wasn't enough stuff on the truck to be worth the money he was asking. in other words it wasn't as complete as I was told. thanks
