Behind the seat speakers?

I need to add a couple speakers to my stereo, I would like to do something behind the seat. There are brackets and speaker wire coiled up on the floor behind the seat now, which tells me the previous owner had something back there and must have taken it out before selling the truck. Anyways, was wondering if anyone's has any pics of what they have done, hoping to get some ideas. Thanks.

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

Wow nice setup corvettejim1968! That's some really nice gear and obviously well implemented. I bet it sounds as sweet as it looks. Bullett, I have thought about it but have yet to try some wedge type enclosures that are intended for putting in the corners of the back glass on older sedans, you might could try those.

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

awesome work CorvetteJim. Very nice. that plants a few ideas in my head. thanks for that. Dashaund, I had thought also about the old wedge style. What ever I end up doing, I am hoping to make one speaker panel that not only holds my speakers but also goes the entire width of the truck so it covers the whole gas tank and gas tank area. I like corvettejim's idea of using the space under the seat for an amp.

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

thank you it sounds amazing. i wanted to tell you all that equipment under the seat was installed with 3M double sided tape. no holes or harm came to the truck during the install lol. its so strong you need a screwdriver to pry it back up. the insulation is made by Fat Mat called Rat Trap really reduces noise and makes your system sound so much better. i only have 60 watts per channel . the cab is so small you don't need big power for big sound.

CorvetteJim, do you still have the gas tank behind your seat? I see you have some type of cardboard piece, didn't know if that hid the gas tank?

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

Did you place anything over the speakers in the doors? They are notorious for letting water get in them. Very nice system.

Looks like he used the foam rubber cups. my concern is all the Fat Mat that covers the drain holes and is also not installed at an angle to shed water at the seams

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

i created an enclosure within the door made of several layers of the Fat mat. it is 16in wide by 10 3/4in tall by the depth (thickness) of the door. im not too worried about the water issue it does not rain here much and my truck is only used on the weekends. but i do agree with your concerns.

yes the tank is still in place plus the stock black cardboard that separates the tank from the seat. you dont see anything unless your really looking for it.

Re: Behind the seat speakers?

get some 2-3way apillar tweeter / mid pods

Put a single 12sub in the rear and use a ported box. speaker facing your back, port on pass back.......
