Big Cowl hood

Does anyone know where I can buy a 4" or 6" cowl hood for my 1968 4x4 chevy? I'm hoping to fit a weiand 250-256 supercharger.

You can make one... Heard too many horror stories about after market for these. No factory dies to duplicate. Out of square, etc. bloody night mare. I made mine. Took some time but fits great. Go slow with the welding... Easy to warp if you do. Wasn't sure on the carb(s) setup... And still aren't. Wanted the clearance in case I got crazy.(mines a 4")

Does anyone know how big of a cowl it would take to cover a BBC with a 250-256 weiand supercharger?

I'm not sure how tall that blower is, but I'd think anything shorter than a
4-71/6-71 would clear a stock hood.
.
Mine has a 454 and must be a foot between the top of the carb and the bottom of the stock hood. I do have a fiberglass cowl hood for it, but it's not on yet though.

Re: Big Cowl hood

71chevyowner.

Do you have a part number for the 4"? I been looking and can't find it.

Also did you cut out under the hood or just add for looks. Just wondering about strength of the hood if you cut it out.

Any pics?
