Re chrome the front bumper or get a repro?

i see i can get a reproduction front bumper for about 200 bucks...im sure it would cost closer to 300 to re chrome the one ive got. Ive got the nice heavy factory chrome bumper and im wondering if the reproduction ones are the same thickness and all.

The Repop's are not as good as OEM... I personally would re-chrome the OEM...

Re: Re chrome the front bumper or get a repro?

Oem is going to fit better, but as c downs said prob be closer to 1000 to get done. I have used nos and bumpers from gmc Paul's and honestly the chrome was better ( smoother) on the repop than the gm ones

Re: Re chrome the front bumper or get a repro?

I use repops from Brothers. They are triple chrome plated and warranted for life against peeling and pitting. They fit very well.

X2. Unless your re-chroming is being done across the border the price will be close to cdowns estimate.

Re: Re chrome the front bumper or get a repro?

I just got an estimate from tri city plating to straighten and rechrome a 72 front bumber. $325 plus shipping ($65-$75) plus the cost of shipping to them. I believe it was a lifetime warranty.

Re: Re chrome the front bumper or get a repro?

Again... I would go with re-plating the OEM... A good plating shop will do the work you would expect to get...
