Cruise control

Apparently cruise control was a option on '70 models? What would one need to make that work?

All the parts (in working condition), ability and documentation. There is a good coverage in the factory service manual, section 15. Remember GM discontinued it for a reason.

I see... a few of those parts don't look too easy to come by.

I've got cruise on my truck. Don't know if it works or not yet. Why did GM discontinue? Reliability, dangerous etc.?
