Steering Column

I have an 89 silverado with a lot of play in the column. I have already had it apart and tightened the 4 hex bolts so that is not it. When I go to put the truck in park the whole column will turn with the shifter. Is it the shift bowl or am I stuck trying to find another column? This is the second column I've had in the truck I never could get into the original to repair it. I broke the pivot pin removal tool in the pivot pin then broke bolt extractor in that. I really can't afford to buy another column right now and with the wife driving the truck I want to make it safer for her(pops out of gear sometimes due to twisting column).

Re: Steering Column

Never seen that happen myself. Make sure the 4 bolts for the support that bolts to the dash are present and tight.

Also check the bushings for the shifter, from the end of the column to the transmission and make sure those aren't sloppy.
