'73-'87 chevy 3/4 ton truck project
I've been thinkin of doing a truck build I like big square wide front end reg cab short bed. Considering going with 454 ci NA with medium cam. Muncie 4 speed. Just looking to see what other guys have done. I want big horsepower. And feedback, opinions, do's and don'ts, are all welcome.

Re: '73-'87 chevy 3/4 ton truck project
I've got a 3/4 T and I must say I'm proud of it. It's a 1975 Camper Special, C20 4;01 gear ratio with the 350 cubic inch motor. It's a long bed obviously. Only 40k kilometers on it and still runs like a dream. Currently in the process of restoration. Thought I'd share even though I plan on very few modifications to the motor transmission or rear end, I'm just going to clean it up and make it ride a little better, it's got enough power for me, especially with the 4;01 gear ratio! Besides I only just turned 15 so I can't even legally drive yet... and as you can imagine my budget is very limited. But there's nothing more that I would love to get my truck on the road!

Re: '73-'87 chevy 3/4 ton truck project
You might want to check out my FRANKENTRUCK build thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=301610 This is a 4x4 3/4 ton by definition, but with it's axles and springs, it's a one ton. It's a 350 V8 built to provide about 350 HP, 400 turbo, with a twin stick transfer case, and 4.11:1 gears. Twin tanks and runs great on regular. Moves quick! Weird to drive it locked into front wheel drive in the snow! Feels like a FWD car. I even built it with a four speaker Kenwood iPod stereo,... It could be better with a big block and four speed, but probably not off the line, due to weight and traction loss at the rear wheels. Maybe in four wheel drive,...?! Ahhh, I'd break something like that! Please check it out,...I think you'd get a kick out of the thread, if nothing else. A lot of folks sure did at the time,...you'll see what I mean. Could give you some good ideas for building other aspects of your truck. Todd.
